Clock Repair By Gary Duane
When a clock comes into the shop it is examined carefully for condition.
The movement is then removed from the case and completely disassembled. All of
the internal parts are then examined a second time for wear. The clock parts
are  then placed in the ultrasonic cleaner to remove old dirt and oil. The clock
usually has plenty of oil on it by the time it reaches my shop. Removing it
from  the cleaner all parts are polished to a new bright brass finish. The next
place  will be the lathe where all of the pivots in the clock are burnished to a
mirror  finish. After burnishing the pivots the plates of the clock are taken
to the  bushing machine and all the necessary bushings are pressed into the
plates and  broached out to the precise dimensions. At this point the clock is
ready to  reassemble followed by test running the clock, making fine adjustments
and  timing out. Finally it will be reinstalled in the case and the clock will
be  ready for your home.

I also have many reference books available and many times I am able to find information about your clock for you.

In the repair of a Grandfather clock the movement will be removed from the
case in your home and only the clock works, the weights and pendulum will come
into the shop. After the above process the parts will be returned to your home
and reinstalled in your Grandfather clock case
